Coquitlam Summer 2011

Welcome to our wiki page for our 2011 summer groups!

***All four group departure time will be at 8:30 am at Riverside School on July 21, 23 and 25th***

Host Picnics this week. Please bring enough dinner for your family and students, this is not a pot luck event. There will be activities for the students that the agent and school has arranged. I look forward to seeing everyone there.

Victoria Trip

****Please send a packed lunch and dinner for the students as they will arrive home in the evening past dinner time*****

This page is a place for you to find general hosting documents, cultural resources, and program details. Please check in periodically throughout the tour for updates as I will be updating the wiki when new information is available for these groups.

It seems that there is a bit of confusion with the phone cards. Sorry I don’t know much about them but they do need to be activated on line. Please go to www.guard.me/activate at the bottom of the page you will see Activate Student choice PIN and enter the code provided. Select British Columbia as your area, then choose your school select Other ( I can’t see one for Coquitlam). Then enter your code and choose the country you will call the most CHINA.

This flowchart outlines the process followed if students are involved in emergency situations.

Please use this form for any overnight trips your student takes with you. This form is also required for sleepovers at the homes of other CHI host families. Please note that we cannot allow students to spend the night at a friend's home unless it is the home of a CHI host family.

Canadians Baseball

For tickets, you can reach our contact Jeff Holloway and let him know which games you'd like tickets for. Please book tickets at least two days in advance. Be sure to mention that you're a CHI Host Family to get our special rate and to be seated next to other CHI families.

Dog Safety
Many students from China are intimidated by the big dogs that are such popular pets among Canadians. We recommend that hosts spend some time with their students and their dogs to help them understand dog behaviour and how to treat them. You might find the following link helpful in this discussion, please have a look and share it with your student.
